Saia Trucking, which has become a familiar part of the southern landscape over the years, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. In the beginning Saia Trucking covered a two state area, Louisiana and Texas. Expansion soon followed. By 1993, Saia serviced five states with a network of 23 terminals. Yellow Corporation purchased the company and two years later, Saia Trucking merged with Smalley Transportation and opened terminals in North and South Carolina and western Texas. In 2001, Saia Trucking integrated with two sister companies, WestEx and Action Express, thereby extending its coverage into the southwest, up the coast of California and into the Northwest.

Saia recently acquired Clark Bros., a midwestern less-than-truckload carrier operating in ten states with approximately 600 employees. Clark Bros. is being integrated into Saia Trucking on May 3rd of this year. The addition of Clark Bros. adds direct service coverage in major midwestern markets, including Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Kansas City.

Saia’s headquarters are located in Duluth, GA and the business offices are located in Houma, LA and Boise, ID.
