Roadway Trucking Road Driver
Linehaul drivers obtain their assignments and inspect their paper work and equipment before leaving the Roadway facility. Linehaul drivers operate commercial motor vehicles in urban, suburban, and rural areas in all weather conditions transporting freight from point to point. They must be able to drop and hook trailers and change the configuration of their equipment en route. Linehaul drivers maintain driving logs and alert maintenance personnel to equipment problems. They improve and update their professional skills on an ongoing basis. Roadway Trucking has many other carreer opportunities in trucking.
Roadway Trucking P & D Driver
Pickup and delivery drivers obtain their daily assignments and inspect their loads and equipment before leaving the Roadway facility. They operate commercial motor vehicles in urban, suburban, and rural areas in all weather conditions. They load and unload freight under varying conditions at company and customer facilities using the same techniques and procedures as a dockworker. When pickups and deliveries are completed, the driver returns to the facility and follows appropriate checkout procedures. P&D drivers improve and update their professional skills on an ongoing basis.
Union wages for dockworkers, local drivers and road drivers for Roadway Express are covered by a labor contract. Our employees' base wages are highly competitive. In addition, other benefits significantly improve an employee's total compensation package.
New full-time employees earn 75% of the current wage for the first year, 80% for the next six months, 90% after 18 months and 100% of the full base rate beginning on their second anniversary. After your second anniversary, here's what you may expect to earn at Roadway*.
