APB Transportation specializes in shipments of 1,500 to 18,000 pounds, aiming to achieve the highest efficiency using the straight truck, cellular phone and computer to ship direct. The tag line on our trucks, "Straight to the Point" defines what we do with a triple meaning: unlike most less than truckload companies, we ship direct, not via a hub and spoke system; we use only straight trucks; and we deal straight.

We especially aim to serve shippers who require excellent service. This usually is the case with value added shipments between manufacturers and difficult deliveries. Therefore, we have equipped our trucks with lift gates, logistic track and straps, and air ride suspensions. We also offer blanket service, labor, and warehousing in our 106,000 square foot facility.

Our computer system is another competitive advantage. It enables us to build our loads on our trucks and ship direct, and to price five ways: by hundred weight off the rate discs of three major LTL carriers, by the trip, skid, and hour/day, and by analogy based on a customer's orders history. Thus we are able to offer our service in the customer's denomination, for an accurate price comparison.

Our success demonstrates that direct shipping on straight trucks is an effective way to move LTL in a 200 mile radius. The advantages of direct shipping in this radius more than outweigh the concentration advantage of hub and spoke shipping. Direct shipping eliminates (1) the cost of and potential damage from moving goods in warehouses between trucks, (2) freight getting on the wrong truck, and (3) separation of pieces of the same shipment.
