TRUCK DRIVER (CDL) TRAINING PROGRAM

You can quickly become a competent driver at Diesel Institute of America!
Full time training programs begin at 8:00 am sharp! We limit each class to ensure that you will get the best training possible. We believe that the only way to learn to drive a big rig is to train you on the road, therefore, the majority of your training is done behind the wheel! 10 Weeks.
Part time programs on Saturdays and Sundays begin each quarter for those of you who have to work while attending school. The program is exactly the same as the full time program. 20 Weeks.
The curriculum for your training is as follows:
Segment I
Orientation, Obtaining a CDL license, Equipment Familiarization, Clutches & Transmission Shifting, Pre-Trip Inspection, Primary Driving, Straight Backing, Coupling and Uncoupling, Sight Side Backing, Proficiency Development, DOT Rules and Regulations. 96 Hours
Segment II
Special Rigs, Use of Fire Extinguishers, Proficiency Development, Blind Side Backing, Accident Causes, Handling of Cargo, Preventative Maintenance and Servicing, Diagnosing and Reporting Malfunctions. 64 Hours
Segment III
Cargo Documentation, hours of Service Requirements, Accident Procedures, Personal Health and Safety, Parallel Parking, Trip Planning, Proficiency Development. 64 Hours
Segment IV
Visual Search, Communications, Proficiency Development, Speed and Space Management, Night Operation, Extreme Driving Conditions, Hazard Peception, Emergency Maneuvers, Personal Financial Management. 96 Hours
Total 320 Hours
