Trucking Schools in Alaska

This six-week course is nationally certified by the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI). This course extensively guides students through vehicle systems, safety, and hands-on, tractor-trailer driver training. Safe operating practices address accident procedures, extreme driving conditions and emergency maneuvers. Included in this course is training in First Aid/CPR, DOT Regulations (49 CFR 172.700) and certified OSHA forklift operator training.

CEE’s roots of establishment started in 1972. At that time the training center primarily had construction training programs revolving around the construction industry and the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline.

When enforcement of the national legislation for commercial drivers license requirements started, our training facility developed a commercial drivers license (CDL) training program for anyone requiring the new license. For those students who were not “grandfathered” under the State of Alaska regulations, we adopted the Professional Truck Driver Institute of America’s (PTDI) Basic Driver Training program. This was the only driver training program recognized by the Federal Highways Administration.

In August 1994, the Training Center established the Center for Employment Education (CEE) so that the Basic Driver Training program could be offered to the general public through a tuition-based financing concept. This opened professional training to the needs of the transportation industry in the State of Alaska.

CEE is a tuition-based, non-profit, vocational school, which offers commercial truck driver, heavy equipment operator, and hazardous materials training at its main training facility located at 1049 Whitney Road in Anchorage. CEE also develops curriculum and provides employer-specific training at on-site locations throughout the State.
