All applications for a permit or license must contain a social security number. However, the social security number will not be used as the driver license number. Proof of social security is required for CDL (for the Commercial Driver License Information System). Acceptable proof of social security number is the blue and white social security card, military ID cards, or the individual’s social security verification record from the Social Security Administration.
